PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia is ready to engage Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) leaders to respond to the latest Israeli air strike on Doha, Qatar, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The Prime Minister said Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan had contacted his Qatar counterpart over the matter.
“If there is a need, I will contact the Emir of Qatar, including several other Islamic country leaders, such as (Turkish President Recep Tayyip) Erdogan, (Saudi Arabian) Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and other leaders to think of a response.
“Israel has gone too far and this shows that they can attack any country in the world on any excuse,” said Anwar after launching the International Conference on Social Sciences and Humanities here on Wednesday (Sept 10).
Anwar also said Malaysia strongly condemns Israel over the air strike in Doha.
“This shows that the world system has failed. A country that commits a crime by blatantly attacking another country can be allowed with impunity.
“This will destroy the entire global system and order,” said Anwar.
On Tuesday, Israel launched an ai rstrike targeting Hamas top leaders in Qatar, which was condemned by many countries.
US President Donald Trump said he was not notified in advance of the Israeli attack on Qatar.
The United States is playing a mediating role in negotiations between Israel and Hamas on ending the Gaza war and securing the release of hostages.
Doha also said it was not warned of the attack which killed six people.
