SEPANG: A total of 133,598 vehicles have been inspected and 13,071 summonses issued under “Ops Khas Gempur Perdagangan, a special nationwide operation conducted by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) since early this month, said its Senior Director (Enforcement) Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan.
He said 274 vehicles were also seized for various offences, including driving without a Competent Driving Licence (CDL), expired Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM), no insurance coverage, and no Vocational Licence.
“It is disheartening to see that many lorry drivers and operators are still repeating the same mistakes. This is a serious matter as there are still many lorries on the road without valid LKM and insurance coverage.
“We are taking firm action by seizing any lorry or bus involved in serious offences – especially those driven without a licence, operating without LKM, or lacking insurance protection,” he told reporters on Tuesday (Sept 9) night.
Earlier, Muhammad Kifli led the Special Op Gempur Perdagangan at the Dengkil Northbound Rest and Recreation Area (R&R) near here.
The special operation was carried out to strengthen enforcement actions with a stricter approach against commercial vehicles that violate road rules and laws. – Bernama
