WCE reinforces commitment to culture through Raintown Film Festival 2025

TAIPING: The West Coast Expressway (WCE) is lending its support to the second edition of the Raintown Film Festival 2025 in Taiping, reinforcing its commitment to arts, heritage, and creativity along its route.

In a statement, WCE said the partnership reflects its aim not just to connect destinations, but also to strengthen the cultural fabric of the towns and communities it serves.

“The Raintown Film Festival provides a platform to showcase the stories and creativity of local and international filmmakers.

“We are proud to support initiatives that celebrate heritage and the arts along the WCE route,” the statement said.

The festival, held from Sept 12 to 14 at Taiping Mall, is free to attend with prior registration, and most sessions are already fully booked.

Highlights include Uthaya Sankar SB’s Capturing the Memories of Aulong Lama, screenings of the Top 10 short films selected from over 100 entries including experimental and AI driven works, and the feature film Rock, shot in Taiping, accompanied by an interactive Q&A session.

WCE said supporting the festival reinforces its mission to link not just places, but also traditions, heritage, and communities, further cementing Taiping’s reputation as the “town of many firsts” and a gateway to history, nature, and culture.
