NEW YORK, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) — U.S. stocks ended higher on Monday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 114.09 points, or 0.25 percent, to 45,514.95. The S&P 500 added 13.65 points, or 0.21 percent, to 6,495.15. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 98.31 points, or 0.45 percent, to 21,798.7.
Six of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with utilities and real estate leading the laggards by losing 1.07 percent and 0.68 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, technology and consumer discretionary led the gainers by adding 0.67 percent and 0.53 percent, respectively.
