Man found dead in drain near TNB substation, believed to be electrocuted


ALOR GAJAH: A man, believed to be a Myanmar national, was found dead in a drain near a Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) substation in Jalan Padang Keladi, Durian Tunggal, today.

The Melaka Fire and Rescue Department said the man is believed to have been electrocuted.

“The department received an emergency call at 2.29pm and dispatched a fire engine with nine firemen from the Ayer Keroh Fire and Rescue Station to the location.

“Upon arrival, rescue personnel found the body of a man in the drain.

“TNB personnel cut off the power supply at the substation before the victim was removed,” the statement said.

It said Health Ministry personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Acting Alor Gajah district police chief DSP Azrul Mohamed said police were working to gather more information on the incident, including identifying the victim.
