Sabah polls: PN ready to work with Warisan

SHAH ALAM: Perikatan Nasional (PN) is open to all possibilities, including forming cooperation with political parties in Sabah such as Parti Warisan (Warisan), either before or after the upcoming Sabah state election.

PN chairman Tan Sri Yassin said Bersatu and PN have so far decided not to cooperate with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

“There are many possibilities (in Sabah).

“Nothing has been finalised yet because I know the situation there.

“Some political partnerships have ended, some haven’t, due to Sabah’s unique political landscape.

“We have to study it carefully as each party is weighing its options.

“There are still unresolved matters, so we will wait for the right time,” he said at a press conference after Bersatu’s annual general assembly today.

Commenting on the proposal that Sabah Bersatu chief Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee be considered as PN’s chief minister candidate, said the matter has yet to be discussed.

“(Ronald as chief minister candidate) is possible. But we haven’t discussed it yet.

“When the time comes, we will announce it.

“I said when the time comes, we will decide because we have several strategies to finalise first.

“For example, cooperation with parties aligned with us.

“If we announce things prematurely, it would not be a wise move.

“We’ll wait for the best timing,” he said.

One of the reasons Bersatu and PN have rejected cooperation with GRS is the decision by several MPs and assemblymen in Sabah to leave the coalition and join the unity government after the 15th general election.
