KAJANG: The six-year-old boy who was mauled by a dog in Taman Megah on Wednesday is scheduled for further surgery.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abd Yusof said the child, who is receiving treatment at Putrajaya Hospital, will undergo another procedure for the wounds on his head.
“The boy is in stable condition but has to undergo another surgery to stitch the outer layer of his scalp,” Naazron said.
Doctors have also administered an anti-rabies vaccine as part of precautionary treatment. Test results related to possible rabies infection are still pending.
Earlier, the boy’s father told the New Straits Times that his son sustained five deep wounds on the head and had already completed the first surgery.
The incident occurred when the boy was cycling near his home before being attacked by a dog. The animal has since been taken to the Kajang Municipal Council’s Animal Detention Centre.
