Man arrested over threats against pathologist in Zara Qairina case

KOTA KINABALU:  Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun has confirmed that a 61-year-old man was arrested in Semporna this morning in connection with alleged criminal intimidation against a pathologist involved in the Zara Qairina case.

The arrest followed a police report lodged yesterday by forensic pathologist Dr Jessie Hiu.

It is understood that the report was linked to threats made by netizens following her two-day testimony in the inquest into the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Kasim Muda had told the NSTP that Dr Hiu had informed them she was made aware of the threats by the Queen Elizabeth Hospital director.

During the inquest, Dr Hiu testified that it was unlikely that the 13-year-old student had accidentally fallen or been pushed from a standing position.

However, she left it to the court to determine whether Zara Qairina had jumped of her own accord.
