Chaos broke out at Bersatu’s eighth annual general assembly tonight when several members shouted at party president Muhyiddin Yassin as he delivered his keynote speech.
A small group was heard calling on Muhyiddin to step down after he revealed that some quarters were collecting signatures to oust him.
Party officials quickly moved in to calm the situation and escort the group out of the hall.
In response to the group calling for Muhyiddin’s resignation, the majority of the delegates broke out into chants of “Hidup Tan Sri” in his support.
In his speech, Muhyiddin said if signatures could be collected to unseat the president, the same could be done against other leaders in the party.
“Division chiefs, Armada chiefs, Srikandi chiefs, Srikandi Muda chiefs, associate chiefs and all division committee members could face the same fate,” he said.
