PETALING JAYA:

Barisan Nasional deputy chairman Mohamad Hasan has advised leaders to voice their views during the coalition’s Supreme Council meetings instead of making public statements that could be misinterpreted.

Mohamad, who is also the deputy president, said public statements could affect ‘s harmony, and any proposal should be discussed on the council platform, which includes all component parties.

“If you have any opinion, speak up. Don’t keep them bottled up during the meeting and then say something different outside. That’s not proper,” Berita Harian quoted him as saying after an event in Seremban today.

“There’s no need to speak outside, because it can sometimes be misinterpreted. It’s better for component party leaders to meet and discuss through the Supreme Council.”

His comments come after several branches hinted at leaving BN, and party president SA Vigneswaran acknowledged informal discussions with Perikatan Nasional regarding ‘s future direction.

PN secretary-general Azmin Ali also recently revealed that the coalition has held informal discussions with MIC and MCA.

Earlier today, MIC deputy youth chief K Kesavan attended Bersatu Youth wing’s annual assembly, the first official invitation for his party amid signs that PN is courting MIC and MCA to join them.
