KOTA KINABALU: The ‘Langkah Kinabalu’ in 2023 was not a form of betrayal but a response to poor governance by Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), says Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.

The Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman and state chief said the coalition withdrew its support for Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor during the January 2023 Sabah political crisis and that it was a “respectful move because we saw the poor governance of GRS.”

Bung Moktar alleged that when the new Sabah Cabinet was sworn in at Istana Negeri in 2020, he was given a different position from what had been agreed before, with having no knowledge of the change.

“I am ready to debate the ‘Langkah Kinabalu’ with anyone, including the Chief Minister,” said Bung Moktar, adding he would also be willing to debate Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan.

He also said it was better to hold a public debate than make statements on social media.
