Do or die mission for Speedy Tigers in Asia Cup

KUALA LUMPUR: It will be a do or die mission for Speedy Tigers against defending champions in the last Super Four match at the 2025 Asia Cup at Rajgir Sport Complex in Bihar, India, tomorrow.

Sarjit Singh’s men are third in the standings with three points following a win over (2-0) and a defeat (4-1) to India.

Speedy Tigers need to beat Korea, who are fourth and last with only a point from

two matches, to book a spot in the final.

Malaysia outplayed Korea 4-1 in the group match.

The Koreans played well to hold India to a 2-2 draw before losing to 3-0.

But the Koreans, who are known for their never say die attitude, will also be going all out for a win over Malaysia to keep their hopes of reaching the final alive.

India topped the Super Four standings with four points and will face , who have three, in the last Super Four match tomorrow.

The top two teams will qualify for the final with the champions securing a place in the 2026 World Cup in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Sarjit’s main concern is injuries as playmaker Fitri Saari and forward Azrai Aizad Abu Kamal did not play against India.

Sarjit said that they made their lives very difficult after the loss.

“We started off well against India but our defence collapsed in the second quarter.

“We have no other choice but to beat Korea for a place in the final. It will be tough, but it’s not impossible,” said Sarjit.

SUPER FOUR FIXTURES – Tomorrow: S. Korea vs Malaysia (7.30pm), India vs China (10pm); Seventh placing match: Taiwan vs Kazakhstan (5pm).
