KUALA LUMPUR: The speculation surrounding actress Rebecca Nur Al-Islam‘s marital status has been put to rest after she announced that her ‘iddah’ (waiting period) had ended.
The 39-year-old actress, who is also a mother of seven, shared the news via an Instagram Story (IGs) post before leaving for the Holy Land to perform Umrah.
Rebecca mentioned that she had received more than 1,000 messages on WhatsApp and social media but had not been able to reply to all of them.
”I apologise to the more than 1,000 WhatsApp messages and the many people who DMed me, but I couldn’t respond,” she wrote.
“Thank you for caring about me. God willing, I’ll be okay; please continue to pray for me.
”I can’t answer the questions asking too many things. Sorry, I need space. What can I say? Yes… I’m done,” she added, uploading a video of herself on a plane wearing a niqab.
Rebecca also requested prayers for a smooth Umrah journey.
“Peace be upon everyone, please pray for me. I am on a plane going to the house of Prophet Muhammad.
“Pray for me to be safe and that God makes it easy for all my affairs,” she wrote.
Previously, Rebecca’s Instagram bio, which featured the words “single mother of 7,” had raised questions among netizens about her marriage to businessman Datuk Norazam Sulaiman.
Speculation intensified after Rebecca uploaded a picture of her husband, expressing her relief at the separation and praying for the well-being of the man she had been with for 18 years.
Rebecca and Norazam were married on Jan 14, 2011.
They have five biological children and two adopted children.
