A police officer told the High Court today no arrests or operations were conducted on the day Pastor Raymond Koh was allegedly abducted.
Ali Asra Abu Bakar said he had made phone calls to fellow policemen to inquire if they had made any arrests in the Petaling Jaya district on Feb 13, 2017.
“If they arrest anyone, they will file a report. But there were no reports (on any arrests or operations) made,” he said.
Ali had previously testified to telling eyewitness Roeshan Celestine Gomez that Koh’s abduction “may have been a police operation”, but said he needed to check whether any arrests were made that day.
The officer was testifying in a lawsuit filed by Koh’s wife, Susanna Liew, on behalf of their family against the police and government over Koh’s disappearance.
Liew wants the authorities to be held liable for her husband’s unlawful abduction and for misfeasance in public office.
Ali also told the court he had conducted “background checks” on Koh before taking Liew’s statement that night.
“I found one police report (through the police system) saying that Pastor Raymond had been ‘threatened’ previously.
“I wanted to know if there was any history that might lead to what happened to him,” he said.
However, he said he could not remember the facts in the report that alleged Koh was “threatened”.
Missing pastor’s pictures found?
Another police officer, Hazril Kamis, who is named as a defendant in Liew’s lawsuit, also testified today.
He told the court he was instructed by his then superior, Huzir Mohamed, from the now-defunct Special Task Force On Organised Crime (Stafoc), to lead a team to Baling, Kedah, for a police operation during the wee hours on June 17, 2017.
A man, identified as Fauzi Tajuddin, was shot dead during the operation.
Hazril said his Stafoc team went to Fauzi’s home in Pengkalan Hulu, Perak, several hours later.
“We found some pictures (at the house), including that of a Chinese man.
“I just assumed the man (in the picture) was Pastor Koh,” he said, adding that he informed Huzir about the pictures.
Koh disappeared on Feb 13, 2017, after he was abducted on Jalan SS4B/10 in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
The hearing before Justice Su Tiang Joo continues tomorrow.
