KUALA LUMPUR: Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad has lodged a complaint with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) after discovering that his image and voice had been used to create several fake TikTok accounts.
He said irresponsible parties had used artificial intelligence (AI) to produce and post videos on these accounts, falsely claiming he was offering cash rewards and urging the public to call certain phone numbers to redeem them.
“I have received many complaints about parties using my image and voice through AI technology to create fake TikTok accounts since this afternoon.
“All forms of government aid will be announced through the official social media accounts of the menteri besar and official government channels.
“Let us not give room to digital fraud,” he said in a Facebook post today.
He said the matter has already been reported to the authorities, including the MCMC.
He urged the public to report such accounts.
