KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s involvement in the Asian Women’s Champions League (AWCL) came to an early end yesterday after Kelana United were routed 4-0 by Etihad in Melaka.
Kelana, who earlier drew 0-0 with Kyrgyzstan’s Asiagoal Bishkek and lost 3-1 to Singapore’s Lion City Sailors, finishing bottom of their group with just one point.
Kelana coach Omar Ali said: “Football needs speed, strength and techniques. From what I see, our local players don’t have the strength.
“Etihad players were physically fit, they’ve got the speed and were technically sound.”
