KUALA LUMPUR: About 900,000 Malaysians spent RM60 million nationwide as of 9.30pm on the second day of the RM100 Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) one-off aid rollout.
The Finance Ministry said that within two days, more than 1.7 million recipients had used the Sara aid, with total spending reaching RM110 million across the country.
The ministry said the MyKasih system was upgraded to process 20 per cent more transactions today.
“Despite the increase in capacity, the system still experienced processing congestion at several locations.
“Major supermarkets in urban areas also saw peak-hour congestion between 1pm and 2.30pm.
“To manage the situation, MyKasih staff were stationed at large supermarkets to resolve issues on the ground and provide support to retailers,” the ministry said in a statement.
The public is advised to shop during off-peak hours, such as weekday mornings, to avoid congestion and ensure smoother transactions.
The RM100 Sara credit remains valid until Dec 31, 2025, and can be used at over 7,300 registered retail outlets nationwide.
It has been credited into the MyKad of more than 22 million Malaysians aged 18 and above.
