KUALA LUMPUR: The Finance Ministry and MyKasih have apologised for technical issues that affected some retail outlets when processing transactions for the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) cash assistance.
In a joint statement, the ministry and MyKasih said their terminal system experienced delays in processing transactions due to a surge in purchase volume. They said that while purchases could still be made, some retail outlets might have difficulty processing them because of the heavy system demand.
“The MyKasih technical team is actively working to resolve the issue, and we expect the system to return to normal operations soon,” the statement said.
Glitches were reported earlier today at several outlets where some shoppers were unable to redeem their RM100 and had to pay out of their own pockets.
The Sara scheme is part of the government’s targeted aid initiative, with assistance channelled through cashless transactions at participating outlets nationwide.
The one-off RM100 Sara credit, which was disbursed via MyKad today, is expected to benefit 22 million adults nationwide at a cost of RM2 billion. It is in addition to existing Sara and Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) assistance, which will total up to RM15 billion this year.
