TIANJIN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim tonight joined world leaders in attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit 2025 Gala Dinner here.
Held at the Tianjin Meijiang Convention Centre, the event, hosted by President Xi Jinping, kicks off the SCO 2025 Summit, which will run for two days beginning today.
Anwar and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, were greeted upon arrival by President Xi Jinping and First Lady Peng Liyuan.
Other dignitaries included Russian President Vladimir Putin, President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Anwar arrived in the port city of Tianjin this evening to kick off his four-day working visit to China.
This marks his fourth visit to China since 2023.
Tomorrow, Anwar will deliver his remarks at the summit, the first time a Malaysian prime minister is attending the annual event.
Before that, the prime minister will deliver a public lecture at Tianjin University and hold a series of meetings with China‘s corporate leaders.
He is also scheduled for back-to-back meetings with Xi and Premier Li Qiang in Beijing, before attending China’s Victory Day Parade in Tiananmen Square to commemorate the end of World War 2.
