PUTRAJAYA: Which contingent won the hearts of spectators at the National Day parade at Dataran Putrajaya today?
For 40-year-old Siti Musitah Soefjan, who travelled from Negri Sembilan, the answer was clear – the police contingent.
“There were so many vehicles with different types of sirens, and that really caught everyone’s attention.
“Besides that, ‘abang bomba’ were also impressive,” she said, adding that her family agreed with her choice.
For university student Nur Balqis Absal Evastrie, it was the army that stole the show with their bodybuilders.
“Usually you see them looking serious and quiet, but today you could see how strong and well-built they are.
“With the weapons, trucks and equipment they brought out, it was clear to me that the army won,” she said.
For students Aiman Emran and Irfan Soffi, it was the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) that captured their admiration, especially with this morning’s fighter jet display.
Aiman said he chose the RMAF as his favourite because the air show, led by chief General Datuk Seri Muhamad Norazlan Aris, amazed him with its precision formation.
Similarly, Irfan said he was impressed by the fighter jets’ ability to perform 360-degree turns and intricate manoeuvres.
Meanwhile, a 22-year-old from Gombak, who only wanted to be known as Hesy, said she preferred the firefighters, describing them as “fit and attractive”.
Still, everyone could agree that the parade was more than just a display of military strength and cultural pride.
It was an unforgettable celebration of unity, colour and patriotism that left lasting memories for spectators of all ages.
