KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s Asian champion S. Sivasangari went down 11-7, 14-12, 11-9 to Egypt’s world No. 1 Nouran Gohar in the Grasshopper Cup final in Zurich, Switzerland today.
World No. 11 Sivasangari, who won the Cincinnati Cup in February, lost in 42 minutes. Yesterday, she did well to upset Belgium’s world No. 6 Tinne Gilis in the semi-finals.
It was Sivasangari’s fourth defeat to Nouran in PSA tournaments.
National chief coach Ajaz Azmat said that Sivasangari played well, but Nouran is a much more experienced player.
“Nouran is in top form of her career and she lost only one match since October last year. For Sivasangari, reaching the final is a great achievement.”
