KUALA LUMPUR: Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) has been urged to place national and bumiputra interests as the foremost considerations when making any decisions regarding the strategic review of its investments in Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (Prolintas).
In a statement Saturday (Aug 30), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that, as an institution entrusted with safeguarding national and bumiputra interests, PNB must maintain its role and holdings in the country’s strategic assets.
“This review process should not proceed if it compromises the long-term benefits for unit holders or negatively impacts PNB’s efforts to contribute to the welfare of the people and national development,” said Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister.
On Friday (Aug 29), PNB confirmed that discussions are ongoing with several parties regarding its highway assets under Prolintas.
It elaborated that the process is still in its early stages, and no decisions have been made on the matter.
In a statement to Bernama, PNB said it is currently conducting a strategic review of its investment in Prolintas as part of its regular portfolio evaluation.
“This initiative aims to identify opportunities to enhance long-term value for the benefit of unit holders,” it said.
PNB added that the review encompassed several options, including retaining ownership of assets or bringing in strategic partners. – Bernama
