PETALING JAYA:
Sabah chief minister Hajiji Noor today hinted that the state assembly may be dissolved in the coming weeks, but stopped short of revealing the exact date.
When asked for details, Hajiji coyly said media personnel still had time to take a short break before any announcement was made.
“You can still go on leave for a week or two,” he was quoted by Sinar Harian as saying.
When pressed if the dissolution would come after Malaysia Day celebrations on Sept 16, Hajiji only said: “Just wait.”
Political observers had previously speculated that Hajiji could call for an election before National Day or after Malaysia Day.
The Sabah state assembly’s term expires on Nov 11, if not dissolved earlier. Elections must be held within 60 days of dissolution.
