Former deputy president Rafizi Ramli said last night he found it difficult to back , even though he did not doubt the party’s noble intentions.

Rafizi said while the elected representatives from were generally decent individuals, it was insufficient in terms of resolving the nation’s woes.

“If we are talking about intentions, I have no issue with PAS. I do not think they are malicious. They just want to be in government,” he said in the latest episode of his podcast, Yang Berhenti Menteri.

The Pandan MP and former economy minister said many had asked why he did not support PAS on grounds that its members were “good people”.

“But being a good person may not necessarily resolve the country’s problems,” he said, adding that competence was required in governance.
