ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Johor Islamic Religious Department (Jainj) and the police have been directed to take action against deviant teachings allegedly taking place in Parit Raja, Batu Pahat.
Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi wanted them to act fast by implementing enforcement and a detailed investigation into the matter according to the law.
“All forms of superstition, worship or rituals that contradict Islam as well as activities that cause Islam to be looked down upon are strictly prohibited,” he said in a statement Friday (Aug 29).
Onn said these offences may be subject to action under the Johor State Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment Act 1997.
He added that Johor takes this matter seriously and Islam is a religion that calls for harmony, peace and mutual respect between human beings.
“Therefore, the state government will not compromise with any party that challenges the harmony and sovereignty of Islam as enshrined in the Federal Constitution,” said Onn.
He said that His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, had decreed that all Muslims in Johor must hold to the true teachings of Islam.
Onn added that the Regent (acting) of Johor, Tunku Ismail had also decreed all Islamic religious institutions, community leaders and authorities to strengthen the enforcement and education to prevent Muslims from deviant teachings.
The video of the rituals allegedly believed to be against the teachings of Islam went viral after it was uploaded to the Giustizia Spada Facebook account.
