VIENTIANE, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) — The second phase of a Chinese-aided rural infrastructure development and poverty alleviation project in Laos has been completed and handed over.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Lao Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith praised the project, saying that it is the outcome of bilateral cooperation in poverty alleviation.
The project has improved livelihoods of local communities, and will play a vital role in Laos’ development, he said.
Chinese Ambassador to Laos Fang Hong said the project reflected shared commitments to overcome poverty and strive for a prosperous and bright future.
The second phase of the project began in December 2023 and was completed in May 2025. It served 40 villages, benefiting over 7,000 households.
