National mixed doubles pair Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin upset their seniors Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai to book their quarter-final berth at the World Championships.
The world No 16 shuttlers took more than an hour to beat their sixth-ranked compatriots 13-21, 23-21, 21-17 at the Adidas Arena in Paris. Both pairs have won once in their two encounters so far.
Pang Ron-Su Yin will meet China‘s world No 2 pair Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Zin, who defeated Denmark’s Jesper Toft-Amalie Magelund 21-15, 21-11.
At the last World Championships in 2023, Soon Huat-Shevon also failed to make the quarter-finals after losing in the third round.
