NEW YORK, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) — U.S. stocks ended higher on Wednesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 147.16 points, or 0.32 percent, to 45,565.23. The S&P 500 added 15.46 points, or 0.24 percent, to 6,481.4. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 45.87 points, or 0.21 percent, to 21,590.14.
Eight of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with energy and technology leading the gainers by adding 1.15 percent and 0.48 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, communication services and health led the laggards by losing 0.09 percent and 0.03 percent, respectively.
