PETALING JAYA: The Defence Ministry will give its full cooperation in the investigation of Reserve Officer Training Unit (Palapes) cadet Syamsul Haris Shamsudin’s death.
Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said in a statement on Wednesday (Aug 27) that the ministry noted and respects the court’s decision to order a second post-mortem.

“I give my assurance that the Armed Forces will give full cooperation to the authorities in ensuring justice is delivered for the deceased.
“The ministry will also continue to monitor developments in the case and leave the investigation to the authorities,” he added.

On Tuesday (Aug 26), the Shah Alam High Court ordered the exhumation of Syamsul Haris’ remains, which were buried at the Kampung Rinching Ulu Muslim cemetery in Semenyih, Selangor.
Justice Datuk Bhupindar Singh Gurcharan Singh Preet issued the order after allowing the application filed by the cadet’s mother, Ummu Haiman Bee Daulatgun, 45.
Syamsul Haris, 22, died on July 28 at Hospital Kota Tinggi in Johor while undergoing training at the Combat Inoculation Firing Range, Army Combat Training Centre in Ulu Tiram.
