NEW YORK, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) — U.S. stocks ended higher on Tuesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 135.6 points, or 0.3 percent, to 45,418.07. The S&P 500 added 26.62 points, or 0.41 percent, to 6,465.94. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 94.978 points, or 0.44 percent, to 21,544.27.
Seven of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with industrials and financials leading the gainers by adding 1.03 percent and 0.76 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, consumer staples and real estate led the laggards by losing 0.46 percent and 0.32 percent, respectively.
