Woman and nephew found dead in Semenyih home, police suspect foul play

KAJANG: Police are investigating the deaths of a 53-year-old woman and her nephew in Semenyih as murder, after their bodies were found in a locked house with no signs of forced entry.

Kajang district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof, said the authorities received a report from a 48-year-old relative yesterday.

He said the man became suspicious after not seeing or hearing from his aunt and nephew for about 10 days.

“He went to check on them and noticed a foul smell coming from his sister’s house, before lodging a report at 8.40pm.

“Firemen were called to assist in gaining access into the house, and upon entering the premises, they found the woman and her 25-year-old nephew dead in the living room,” he said.

Initial investigations revealed that the 53-year-old woman and her 25-year-old son had been living together in the house.

Naazron said there were no signs of ransacking, and notably, the front door was locked from the inside.

“Several items were seized from the scene to assist in investigations, but no arrests have been made so far.

“Statements from family members and other witnesses are being recorded, while the motive for the killings remains under investigation,” he added.

The bodies were sent to Serdang Hospital for post-mortem examinations.

Naazron said preliminary findings indicated that both deceased died of asphyxiation.

“The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” he said.

He urged anyone with information related to the incident to contact the investigating officer, Assistant Superintendent R.K. Umesh, at 012-6114900, or to approach the nearest police station.
