These messages, sent from personal numbers, demand bank details and threaten to “freeze” subsidies if not provided.

The Finance Ministry has issued a warning to Malaysians regarding fraudulent text messages falsely claiming eligibility for Bantuan Tunai Rahmah (STR).
These messages, sent from personal phone numbers, instruct recipients to provide their banking details, under the threat that their subsidy will be “frozen” if they fail to comply.
“The message regarding the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) assistance as mentioned above is fake,” the Ministry declared in a post on its Facebook page.
“Be cautious and don’t be easily deceived by such fake messages. Always verify before clicking and avoid becoming a victim of fraud,” it said, advising people to rely only on the Ministry’s official channels for authentic information regarding government assistance.
