KUALA LUMPUR: Strategic cooperation between the Federal Territories Department (FTD) and the police will continue to be strengthened to ensure the safety and well-being of city residents are consistently protected.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said this was among the matters discussed during a courtesy call by newly-appointed Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadli Marsus today.
Dr Zaliha said Kuala Lumpur, as the nation’s capital, is not only the administrative centre but also the economic and cultural heart of Malaysia, where peace and security must be preserved.
“In the meeting, we discussed several areas of strategic cooperation between the Federal Territories Department and police, including public safety measures and community initiatives aimed at creating a safer, more orderly and harmonious city.
“I would like to congratulate Datuk Fadli on his appointment as Kuala Lumpur police chief, and at the same time express my appreciation for police’s commitment in safeguarding the safety and well-being of city residents,” she said in a Facebook post.
The courtesy call by the delegation from the Kuala Lumpur contingent police headquarters was held today at the Parliament Building.
Fadli, who previously served as deputy director of Intelligence/Operations at the federal police Criminal Investigation Department (CID), was appointed as Kuala Lumpur police chief effective Aug 11.
