NEW DELHI, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) — At least 11 people were killed and two others went missing as heavy rains battered several parts of India’s western state of Rajasthan over the past 48 hours, officials said Monday.
According to officials, relentless downpours for five consecutive days have led to flash floods, inundating homes and submerging roads, thus disconnecting dozens of villages from main towns. The transport service has been badly hit.
The local administration was working hard to ensure supply lines and provide relief to thousands of the affected people.
So far, hundreds of people have been evacuated safely.
