SEREMBAN: Former Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre Commandant Dep Comm Datuk Alzafny Ahmad has officially assumed duties as Negri Sembilan police chief and immediately pledged to continue the good work of his predecessor.

The 49-year-old Alor Star-born officer said among his first tasks would be to strengthen cooperation between the various enforcement agencies in the state so police can combat crime more effectively.

“As we all know, police do not operate in a silo and we need to effectively collaborate with other agencies so that we can resolve any issue faster.”

“We will also continue to focus on using technology and artificial intelligence in carrying out our duties which is in line with the vision of the Inspector General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail.”

“Then, we will also continue to uphold professionalism and to serve the community well and in line with the police motto of Polis Dan Masyarakat Berpisah Tiada (Police and Community Cannot Be Separated),” he said.

Earlier, outgoing state police chief Dep Comm Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof handed over the reins in a ceremony at the state police headquarters witnessed by Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa.

Rusdi represented the Inspector General of Police at the ceremony.

Ahmad Dzaffir has been appointed as deputy director of Management (Administration) of the Bukit Aman Management Department.

Alzafny said he was confident of carrying out his duties well as he had inherited a strong team from his predecessor.

“I will also look into integrity-related issues and ensure my men are able to execute their duties effectively.”

“This is important as I do not want the public to have any misconception about the force,” he said, adding that he would also look into the welfare of his men to ensure they always remain focused on their work.
