A 19-year-old college student became the third person to lose his life on the Damansara–Shah Alam (DASH) Expressway after a 21m fall from a flyover in Shah Alam yesterday.
Shah Alam police chief Iqbal Ibrahim said the student, who was riding a Yamaha 135LC motorcycle from the direction of Persiaran Mokhtar Dahari, was believed to have lost control while turning on a ramp at the highway interchange in Puncak Perdana, Utusan Malaysia reported.
“The victim lost control while taking a corner, skidded, and crashed into the road divider. The impact of the accident caused him to fall about 21 meters onto a grassy area at Persiaran Pulau Angsa.
“As a result, he sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,” he was quoted as saying.
Iqbal urged members of the public with information about the case to contact investigating officer Nur Iqmal Maisarah Azman at 017-2836851.
On Feb 26, a 30-year-old woman died on the expressway after she lost control of her motorcycle on a bend, grazed another vehicle, and was then thrown over the flyover at a height of an estimated 30-35m.
On July 26, a 23-year-old man died when his motorcycle skidded and plunged from a 21m high flyover on a ramp. Police said he is believed to have lost control of his motorcycle when navigating a bend.
