Warisan rules out alliance with PN, will contest Sabah polls solo

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan (Warisan) has dismissed any intention to collaborate with Perikatan Nasional (PN) for the upcoming 17th Sabah State Election.

Warisan’s Information Chief, Datuk Azis Jamman, said that although they were aware of the speculation, the party remains committed to contesting alone.

“From the very beginning, we have been clear. Under the leadership of President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, Warisan will contest PRN17 independently, under our own logo.

“This decision has been consistently communicated and remains unchanged.

“There are no negotiations, discussions, or arrangements with PN, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), or any other political alliance regarding election cooperation.

“Any suggestion of a backdoor alliance is baseless and does not reflect Warisan’s official position,” he said in a media statement issued today.

He added that their main focus is on safeguarding the welfare and well‑being of the people of Sabah.

“Our focus is on addressing the pressing challenges faced by Sabahans, including rising costs of living, lack of infrastructure, unreliable electricity and water supply, limited job opportunities, and the long-overdue demands for Sabah’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

“At a time of political uncertainty and opportunism, Warisan chooses to remain consistent, principled, and transparent.

“Our direction is clear — to contest solo and to deliver a government for the people of Sabah that prioritises their welfare over political self-interest.

“We are confident that the people of Sabah will continue to place their trust in Warisan to deliver a fairer, more prosperous future for the state,” he added.

Today, media reported that PN Chief Whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said his party does not rule out the possibility of a political alliance with Warisan for the Sabah State Election, calling such cooperation not inconceivable in the current political landscape.
