KUALA LUMPUR: Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has denied any interference or external influence in Cabinet decisions.
He said claims suggesting that certain parties had influenced government decisions were completely baseless.
“There is absolutely none. I attend almost every Cabinet meeting, and the decisions made are collectively decided by the Cabinet.
“There are no other parties involved. So, to me, such claims are untrue,” he told reporters after attending the Denyut Nadi Merdeka Programme at the Pasar Seni LRT Station.
Fahmi made the remarks in response to a question regarding former economy minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, who, in a podcast, claimed there had been talk among various individuals both inside and outside the government that Datuk Seri Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak held significant influence over government decisions.
Rafizi said such perceptions must be addressed, as they are dangerous, whether true or false.
Fahmi added that he had not watched Rafizi’s podcast until prompted by the media.
“The decisions made by the Cabinet, and even the discussions within it, are considered secret and classified as official secrets.
“If they are disclosed, the Official Secrets Act (OSA) applies.
“So, if any party makes such claims, a police report can be lodged and the authorities will take action.
“But I have not heard about this matter, and I have not watched the podcast,” he said.
