Takiyuddin confirms he will not contest in Pas party polls

KOTA BARU: secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan today confirmed that he will not contest for any position in the coming party elections.

Takiyuddin said he had not contested for any post for more than 10 years, instead only accepting responsibilities entrusted to him.

“If there are nominations from the grassroots for me to contest, I thank them for their trust.

“But I can say with 99.9 per cent certainty that I will not contest.

“Furthermore, this year marks my 10th year as secretary-general, so I feel there is no need to continue,” he told reporters here today.

The Kota Baru MP had earlier officiated the Kota Baru Safe City Batik Run 2025 at Dataran Muhammadi.

It was previously reported that the central election committee had announced the list of eligible candidates for the 2025/2027 party elections.

The posts of president and deputy president will not see any contest.

Party president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang remains the sole candidate for the presidency, while Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man retains his position as the sole candidate for deputy president.

According to the election committee chairman Wan Rohimi Wan Daud, the candidate list covers positions in the central working committee, the Ulama council, the Youth wing, and the Muslimat wing.
