KUALA LUMPUR: The substance injected into Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli’s son during an assault last week has yet to be determined, says Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail (pic).
“We are still conducting investigations into several matters that I believe can lead us to identifying those responsible.
“The CCTV footage has been taken, and several angles are being investigated.
“As of now, the chemical report on the substance has yet to be received, but the child is well,” he told a press conference at Bukit Aman here on Friday (Aug 22).
He added that the 12-year-old boy’s condition was being monitored by the hospital.
“As of now, 19 statements have been taken, including from family members,” he said.
On Rafizi’s claim that the attack came after he met a whistleblower over a matter involving a well-known personality, the IGP said investigations were ongoing.
On a threatening message sent to Rafizi’s wife after the attack, he said the number had been traced to a foreigner.
“The number was registered to a foreigner and we are tracing the person,” he added.
It was reported that the son of the former PKR deputy president was assaulted in an incident at about 2pm on Aug 13 at the pick-up and drop-off area of a shopping mall in Putrajaya.
Two men wearing crash helmets grabbed the child before stabbing him with a syringe and fleeing.
Rafizi’s wife later received a threatening message on her phone.
