Police have confirmed the veracity of a video currently being shared widely on social media of a man with serious injuries in Bukit Bintang after an attack.

In a brief statement to reporters tonight, Dang Wangi deputy police chief Nuzulan Din said a police report on the incident was lodged on Tuesday at 5.29am.

“The victim is currently in stable condition.

“An investigation has been opened under Section 326 of the Penal Code (for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means),” he said.

Section 326 provides for up to 20 years’ imprisonment, a fine or whipping if the person is convicted.

Nazron said efforts to locate the assailant are ongoing.
