Dutch Lady milks RM23mil net profit in Q2, up 6pct on strong demand

KUALA LUMPUR: Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd’s net profit rose 6.17 per cent to RM23.4 million in the second quarter ended June 30, from RM22.04 million a year ago, as revenue grew 4.08 per cent to RM375.61 million from RM360.87 million, driven by strong sales of its flagship liquid milk portfolio.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the group said its professional channel delivered particularly strong results, while new product innovations also contributed meaningfully to growth. Operating profit climbed 11.4 per cent to RM33.9 million from RM30.5 million.

The company said transition costs dropped to RM5.6 million from RM14.7 million a year earlier, reflecting its recovery from heavy restructuring expenses in 2024. Excluding these one-off costs, core operating profit stood at RM39.6 million versus RM45.2 million.

“Dutch Lady said stronger volumes and revenue helped lift earnings, though marketing expenses were higher. Inflation in dairy raw materials, it added, continues to pressure input costs.

Managing director Veronika Utami said the results reflect the operational momentum the company has been building.

“Our focus continues to be on smart growth, ensuring our products remain affordable for Malaysian families while maintaining the profitability we need to keep investing in innovation and our workforce. The market response to our core products has been very encouraging,” she said.

The company said July marked a major milestone with its new distribution centre becoming fully operational, completing Dutch Lady’s infrastructure modernisation journey and unlocking supply chain efficiencies.

Though is DLMI@Enstek facility in Negri Sembilan, Dutch Lady said it is setting a new benchmark for Malaysia’s dairy industry by combining state-of-the-art manufacturing with an integrated distribution hub.

Despite challenges such as global economic uncertainty, commodity price volatility and foreign exchange fluctuations, Dutch Lady maintained a positive outlook, citing strong brand recognition and growing consumer focus on nutritional wellness.
