PETALING JAYA:

An electrician was charged in the Seremban sessions court with beating his three stepsons, aged 15 to 19, with a PVC pipe because they refused to stop vaping despite his admonishments.

M Satiskumar, 44, pleaded not guilty when the charges against him were read before judges Surita Budin and N Kanageswari in two separate courtrooms, Kosmo reported.

He was charged with voluntarily causing hurt to his three stepsons, aged 15, 16 and 19, using a PVC pipe, at 5.30am at a house in Taman Bukit Mutiara, Seremban, on Aug 15.

He was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 326A of the same code, which provides for up to 10 years’ imprisonment, a fine, whipping or any two of the punishments if convicted.

Satiskumar’s wife, Tharani, 39, also pleaded not guilty to injuring her 16-year-old son with a knife.

The housewife was charged with committing the offence at the same time and place under the same sections of the Penal Code.

Deputy public prosecutor Norazihah Asmuni offered bail of RM50,000 for each of Satiskumar’s charges, while deputy public prosecutor Siti Khairiah Abdul Razak offered bail of RM20,000 for Tharani’s charge.
