CelcomDigi has announced that its CEO Datuk Idham Nawawi is stepping down from the role effective 31st August 2025 due to personal reasons. He will continue to support the company as an Advisor to the Board during the transition process until 30th November 2025.
Datuk Idham had lead the management team through the foundation years after the merger of Celcom and Digi. Prior to the merger, he served as the CEO of Celcom since September 2018.
CelcomDigi’s current Deputy CEO Albern Murty has been appointed as Acting CEO effective 1st September 2025.

CelcomDigi Chairman YM Tengku Dato’ Sri Azmil Zahruddin bin Raja Abdul Aziz said, “On behalf of the Board, we would like to thank Datuk Idham for leading CelcomDigi in laying the foundation for future growth as Malaysia’s trusted connectivity partner. Datuk Idham has agreed to stay on as an advisor to the Board to support the transition. We are pleased that Albern has agreed to step in as Acting CEO, as CelcomDigi continues its transformation journey.”
Meanwhile, Datuk Idham said, “It has been an honour to lead CelcomDigi as the founding CEO, including the historic merger of Celcom and Digi—creating the largest telecommunications company in Malaysia and commemorating a landmark moment in our corporate history. I firmly believe that CelcomDigi is now on a strong footing to propel further as a market leader.”
He added, “Personally, this role has been one of the greatest and most unexpected privileges of my career, and I wish CelcomDigi continued success.”
