#SHOWBIZ: Shila Amzah looks for a learning assistant to help son adjust to school

KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Shila Amzah is looking for a learning assistant for her eldest son, Seth Uwais, who began his first year of primary school two weeks ago.

The 36-year-old artiste, whose full name is Nurshahila Amir Amzah, explained that her son, who is on the autism spectrum, is still adjusting to his new school routine and environment.

“I’m urgently looking for a learning assistant for my autistic son, Seth, who just started Year One two weeks ago,” she wrote on Instagram yesterday.

“If anyone has recommendations or knows someone who can help, please let me know. The important thing is that this person must be able to work in , as Seth attends school there.”

She added that the ideal candidate would have prior experience teaching or working with children with special needs.

According to Shila, the school recommended a temporary assistant to help make Seth’s learning process smoother and more effective.

“At the moment, Seth is still struggling to adapt to school because the new environment and routine are challenging for him. The school has advised us to provide a special assistant until he is able to cope independently,” she shared.

Shila noted that Seth is more independent at home because he is already familiar with his surroundings.

“At home, Seth is very independent because he’s used to the environment. But at school, it’s a different challenge,” she explained.

She concluded by reflecting on the difficulties of raising a child with special needs: “Having a special child is not easy. May we all be given the mental, physical, and financial strength to guide them in the best way possible.”
