KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 (Bernama) — The festive display of the Jalur Gemilang here, a manifestation of Malaysians’ pride in celebrating the National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2025, has also attracted the attention of foreign tourists.
A German software developer, Anna Becker, 36, said that upon arriving in Kuala Lumpur, she was indeed surprised to see so many flags displayed along the roads and on buildings around the capital.
“At first, I wondered why there were so many flags, but after being told, I finally understood that Malaysia was going to celebrate its National Day. This atmosphere is indeed unique,” she told Bernama.
Meanwhile, a bank officer from Melbourne, Australia, James Carter, 46, was amazed to see the Malaysian national flag adorning the main streets in the capital and said it felt like a warm welcome to Kuala Lumpur.
“The flags that were hoisted made visitors like me feel the joy of Malaysians in celebrating the National Day,” he said.
Meanwhile, a tourist from South Korea, Seo Yeon, 28, said the atmosphere around Kuala Lumpur was indeed exciting, but she won’t have the opportunity to witness the National Day parade on Aug 31 because her vacation here ends earlier.
“Being in Malaysia and witnessing the festivities before the actual celebration makes me wish to stay longer to experience it myself.
“I once watched a video of the Malaysian National Day parade on social media, which was lively with marching bands and a large crowd,” she said.
For Daniel Hughes, 34, an engineer from England, seeing the display of the Jalur Gemilang in every corner of Kuala Lumpur will be a wonderful memory for him.
“We get to see the Malaysian flag everywhere…at roadside stalls and even on public transportation.
“At night, the Petronas Twin Towers is also illuminated with the colours of the Malaysian flag. I can feel the spirit of Malaysians celebrating the National Day wherever I go,” he added,
