TAPAH: Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) candidate K.S. Bawani was the first voter to cast her ballot this morning at the polling centre for the Ayer Kuning state by-election, held at SJKC Pheng Lok Ayer Kuning.
She arrived at the centre around 8am, wearing a red jacket and accompanied by PSM deputy chairperson S. Arutchelvan.
Before entering the polling station, she took time to greet several voters and election staff, and also engaged with members of the media who had been waiting for her since early morning.
She said she had done her best throughout the campaign period by meeting with voters in the constituency.
She said she needed to cast her vote early as she planned to visit several other polling centres throughout the day to observe the voting process.
“We have done our part and shown our best, and now it is up to the people of Ayer Kuning to decide today.
“I came early to vote because I still want to visit other polling centres to monitor how the process is going,” she said.
Bawani also expressed her gratitude to media personnel who had been at the polling station since the morning.
Before leaving, she took time to mingle with Election Commission (EC) officials on duty at the centre.
At SK Ayer Kuning, Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Abdul Muhaimin Malek arrived at the polling district centre at 8.20am and completed casting his vote at 8.35am in stream three.
