KOTA BELUD: An estimated 20,000 people dressed in black flooded the field in Kota Belud town to show solidarity and demand justice for the late Zara Qairina Mahathir earlier today.

The rally, held from 7pm to 9.30pm, sought to express solidarity as participants carried banners and placards, chanting “Justice For Zara.

Observations found that police were also present at the location to maintain peace.

The turnout, which included residents from the Kota Marudu and Kudat districts, continued to grow throughout the event, attracting people of all ages.

The organising chairman Nurul Fadzilah Noordin said the gathering demonstrated extraordinary unity and support, as people from different backgrounds came together.

“The presence at this solidarity gathering transcends political and social boundaries, focusing on a humanitarian issue.

“We stand together demanding justice for Zara Qairina,” she said in her speech.

In addition to a whiteboard, a Perodua Myvi car was also used to collect signatures along with the slogan “Justice4Zara” written by participants.

Bottled water was provided free to attendees.

Zara Qairina was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at Queen Elizabeth I Hospital on 17.

She was found unconscious at SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha in Papar at 4am the previous day.
