PETALING JAYA: The principal, senior assistant for student affairs, and all wardens of SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha will be temporarily placed at the Sabah State Education Department until investigation by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is completed.
The Education Ministry, in a statement on Wednesday (Aug 13), said this decision follows PDRM’s announcement that Bukit Aman’s Special Task Force has taken over the investigation into the case of the late Zara Qairina Mahathir.
“The ministry will give its full cooperation to the authorities to ensure that the investigation is carried out thoroughly, meticulously, and comprehensively.
“As emphasised earlier, this case is currently the ministry’s top priority.
“The ministry hopes that a transparent and complete investigation will be conducted to ensure justice for the family and all parties involved,” the statement read.
Zara Qairina, 13, was found unconscious near a drain close to her hostel building at the religious school in Papar on July 16. She subsequently died from the injuries the next day.
