KOTA KINABALU: Sabah will hold a state-level tahlil and prayer ceremony for the late Zara Qairina Mahathir on Aug 14.
Sabah Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif, who also oversees education and religious affairs in the state, said the ceremony would be held simultaneously at all mosques and surau across Sabah.
“On Aug 8, I instructed the Sabah Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JHEAINS) director to coordinate tahlil and prayer ceremonies in all mosques and surau statewide for the well-being of the late Zara Qairina Mahathir.
“The state government will organise the official state-level ceremony this Thursday (Aug 14), after Maghrib prayers, at the Kota Kinabalu City Mosque. The session will be led by the State Mufti.
“This event will take place concurrently throughout Sabah. Let us all pray that the late Zara is granted forgiveness and mercy,” he said in a statement today.
